This upside down apple cake is really easy and delicious! This is more of a winter cake with a delicious apple taste. Its perfect for when you have guests over for Christmas to serve with tea or coffee or milk!

Apples are also so healthy and full of antioxidants. They contain vitamins , B1,B2,B6,C,E,K, niacin , folate and  pectin.

So here it is, hope you enjoy!


2 large Grann smith apples , peeled , cored and sliced

1 cup all-purpose flour

125 gr. Becel margarine or unsalted butter, room temperature

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

3 tbsp sugar

2 tbsp water

1 tbsp cinnamon

1/2 cup walnut , finely chopped

1/4 tsp vanilla extract


Preheat the oven to 175 degress C. ( 345 degrees F.) .Grease & flour  a 20 cm. baking tin or line the baking tin with parchment paper.

Using an electric mixer to beat the Becel margarine , sugar  until pale and fluffy . Then add the eggs, vanilla extract and beat them for 2-3 minutes . Sift  the flour and baking powder ,gradually  add the flour  in the mixed eggs ,whisk  for 2-3  minutes until well combined .

Place  the apple slices by one by in the baking tin ,( they will cover the bottom )then sprinkle with the cinnamon and sprinkle  with the 3 tbsp sugar and 2 tbsp water. Pour the cake batter into baking tin with a spoon or spatula and gently smooth with spatula .

Place the cake in the oven low rack and bake the cake for 50- 60 minutes ,( Check in 45 minutes with a toothpick or  a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean ) Remove from the oven and let the apple cake cool in the baking  tin for 5-10 minutes. Then turn it out onto a serving plate , bottom side up . Cut into wedges and serve it .
