Turkey is just over the water from North Cyprus and flags here today are at half-mast for those miners who perished in the disaster at Soma. The song “Forever Young” by The Pretenders, written by Bob Dylan, is to remember those miners who have died and who will remain forever young in the memories and hearts of their families, friends and community. When a disaster like this happens, we need to remember John Dunne’s poem, it resonates around the world and in our hearts for the dead miners of Soma and those suffering the grief of their loss:
