Today I want to share easy home made Turkish Baklava from baklava’s homeland Turkey, there are many variations of making, some baklava sweeter but some perfumed with cinnamon, rose etc, Baklava filling is different from city to city in Turkey.For instance, walnut filling, pistachio filling etc, and even baklava slices  make different shape such as, diamond shape, triangle shape, rectangle,square shape. Also different countries make baklava, Greek, Lebanon, Iran, Hungary, Bosnia etc, and every country has a different savour.

This Baklava recipe is really take short time and excellent traditional taste. It makes everyone think you are a master chef but it is so easy and delicious dessert. Also if you like traditional Turkish taste you should try it, this recipe is worthy it.



4 cup granulated sugar

4 cup cold water

1 tbs fresh lemon juice

Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan over the medium heat and simmer until the sugar had dissolved. Simmer about 15 minutes or until the syrup begin to reduce and stir in the lemon juice and simmer again 1 minutes, and then leave it to cool at room temperature.


1 cup olive oil

1 cup whole milk

About 4 cup all purpose flour

1cup coarsely crushed walnut for filling,(or you can use pistachio, Kaymak)

250 gr. melted butter, for on top Baklava.



1- Put the olive oil and the milk in a large bowl.

2- Gradually add the flour and mix well, use your hand for kneading the baklava dough. Knead about 15-20 minutes.

3- After knead well, make a ball of dough and cover with a tea cloth over the dough and let it a rest about 15-20 minutes.

4- Make a roll your dough and divide equal little 40 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, like walnut size.

5- Flatten a ball out with your fingers and place on a floured surface, put 1 tsp wheat- starch onto the flatten ball and put second ball onto the first ball, repeat the same processing for 20 pieces ball.

6-Roll it and place in your baking tray, sprinkle crushed walnut over it.

7-Make the same process for the remain 20 pieces ball and place second rolled dough onto the baking tray.

8-Cut it as baklava shape or square , melted the butter and spooned it over the baklava, bake your baklava until golden brown or about 15-20 minutes, in before heated oven. (About 230C degrees-240C. )

9-Cooled your baklava and spooned the syrup over the cooled baklava. Let it rest about 5-6 hours or more than 6 hours. Serve it with ice cream or simple.

    Absolutely beautiful. I love Baklava, introduced to it by my late Husband, whose Grandfather was born in Salonika. The only problem is I am Diabetic and not really allowed it, but yours looks hard to resist.
