MARBLE CAKE RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
1 teaspoon orange zest or vanilla extract
180-185 g unsalted butter, softened
280 g self-raising flour
30 g caster (superfine) sugar
3 eggs, at room temperature
4/3 cup milk
2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 and half tablespoons warm milk
METHOD:
Before, Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Lightly grease your cake mold or grease a 25x11x7.5cm cake tin and line the base with baking paper.
1-Put the butter in a bowl with the sugar and vanilla extract or orange zest and using electric beaters, cream the mixture until pale and fluffy.
2-Add the eggs one a time and beating well after each addition. Sift the flour, then fold it into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk until they are combined. Put half the mixture into another bowl.
3-Mix the cocoa and warm milk until smooth and then add to one of the bowls , mix them until well combination.
4-Spoon the plain mixture and chocolate mixture into the cake tin in alternating spoonfuls. Use a metal skewer to gently cut through the mixture a few times to create a marbled effect.
5-Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean when poked into the centre of the cake.
6-Leave in the thin for 5 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool. Cut into slices and serve it, it goes well a cup of tea, coffee or milk.
